The United Nations(UN) 2030 Agenda

The LMA and LMARC Consortium Policy on the 2030 Agenda
By
The LMA 2030 Agenda Projects Group

In the forefront of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were created by the United Nations(UN)in 2015 to provide common, achievable aspirations which act as a “blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all”.

These SDGs were made more “actionable” in 2017, with specific targets set for each one in a UN Resolution adopted by the General Assembly. The resolution identifies more detailed targets for each goal – with a general ambition to achieve the desired outcomes by 2030.

It is now very important that we stand together for a joint climate effort. AHCP’s goals internationally by 2040 globally (and to achieve net zero emissions by  2030 globally and to be at the forefront of all the markets in which we operate. That’s why, working closely with our clients as we strive to transform society together, we use our knowledge and skills to develop industries, construction, energy systems, infrastructure and many other parts of society in line with the 17 UN SDGs.

At LMA, the 17 UN Sustainability Goals lie at the heart of our ‘transforming society together’ mission – linked to the specific challenges that exist in each client project and in the transformation of our own operations.

Cooperating and collaboration between our different areas of expertise in our membership services, consortia and collaborating groups means that we can evaluate different factors and implement the most sustainable solution. Five goals have been identified as the most business-critical to our operations and where we have the greatest opportunity to influence, in creating a more sustainable future together with our communities:

Goal 6: Clean water and sanitation via the LMA Environmental Programmes and Public Health Initiatives

Goal 7: Sustainable energy for all via the LMA Energy Projects and Power Regeneration Schemes

Goal 9: Sustainable industry, innovation, and infrastructure for all via the LMA Innovation, Technology and Industry Infrastructure building Projects globally

Goal 11: Promote development of sustainable cities and societies via the LMA joint Community Development Projects

Goal 13: Climate action via the LMA Environmental Programmes and Disaster Management Projects

Building & Urban areas( SDGs 11 & 13)

The LMA and LMARC’s schemes offer a holistic planning and design approach for tomorrow’s buildings and landscapes. Social sustainability is an essential element of our approach, with the goal of creating a more equal society with the populations as the focus point. We also offer solutions to reduce cities’ climate impact, create circular flows and adapt to climate change. We endorse biodiversity by planning ecosystem services in our cities, working with green and blue infrastructure, conducting environmental analyses, and protecting nature against invasive alien species.

Water, Energy and Industry( SDGs 6, 7, 9)

The transformative drivers for sustainable development are leading to an increased demand for modern technical solutions. With our combined expertise, The LMA and LMARC’s schemes contributes to living environments that are not harmful to man and nature. Our experts work in projects that span across the transition to more renewable and efficient energy systems, smart electricity grids, transforming industry to meet future needs as well as reducing hazardous emissions, recycling waste and ensuring access to clean water.

Transportation Infrastructure(9 & 13)

The LMA and LMARC’s work with solving cities and regions’ future transportation needs. LMA’s experts work on projects that include the planning and construction of new railways and tramlines and the design of public transport and pedestrian and bicycle paths. LMA also works with digital mobility services such as MaaS (Mobility as a Service) and LaaS (Logistics as a Service) and helps the European Union(EU) co-ordinate and plan new infrastructure.
